… Replied Ron Saxton when asked by a Republican Precinct Committee Person (PCP) if he would consider debating conservative gubernatorial candidate Mary Starrett.
Newberg, OR (July 29,
2007) - It was at this weekend's festive Old Fashioned Days parade where
Republican gubernatorial candidate Ron Saxton told a Republican Party precinct
committee person that there was no way he would discuss the issues in a public
forum with Constitution Party candidate for Oregon governor, MARY
STARRETT. Saxton’s response -
a firm "NO!" - made it clear Saxton does not want the voters to see through
his newfound claim to be a "conservative."
Starrett said,
"I can understand why it would be crucial for Saxton to avoid a debate
with me. While he has been trying
very hard to convince voters he is right of center, his past political
dealings and alliances have been verifiably left of
center. He obviously does not want
those he is courting to discover his counterfeit conservatism!"
When pressed, Saxton told
the Republican who questioned him about a possible debate on the issues
with Starrett, "The answer is
no!"
Is Ron Saxton hiding
under his desk? Why
NOT
let voters decide after
hearing both candidates' positions?
