Cherrill:

I can’t put the concern of my own re-election before my desire of restoring America’s greatness and doing what is right for the country.

First of all, I want to point out one thing, which is that at this point Martinez is running for the Office of General Chairmanship unopposed. I believe our President would not withdraw his recommendation to Republican National Committee on having us consider Mel Martinez as General Chairman, an honorary position and Mke Duncan as RNC Chairman. As you already know, Martinez will serve as a figurehead for RNC as well as a fundraiser for RNC. Mike Duncan will serve as RNC Chairman, who has a total control of RNC day to day operation and money.

Furthermore, RNC needs $200 million in 2008 for the fight of the White House. The President needs someone, who is willing to help raising this amount of money and whom he could trust. Thanks to McCain’s campaign finance reform act, Martinez has to raise this amount from over 95,000 big donors throughout the country at a rate of $2,100 per person. Martinez needs an “impressive title” (General Chairman) to reach out to GOP big donors outside of his home state of Florida.

My approach is trust, but verify…I did check out the above arrangement as the President’s original intent.

As a conservative activist and a legal immigrant, not a party leader, I am on record in supporting of border security, enforcing exiting laws on the book, and no amnesty. As a result, I supported a RNC resolution on board security and enforcing exiting immigration laws and an ORP resolution on board security and no amnesty. When Oregonian interviewed me twice on this issue, I told the reporter that I am for border security, enforcing exiting immigration laws on the book, and no amnesty. Those statements were printed in the newspaper twice. Furthermore, I am also on record in opposing McCain/Kennedy’s full amnesty bill as well as Hagel/Martinez compromised amnesty bill.

In addition, I also share you concern that Martinez could use his new position to push for another amnesty bill. As a result, I am on record in opposing such an attempt because we must learn our lesson on Nov. 7th. It was our positions on amnesty, corruption, endless spending, which caused our conservative base stay home; in turn we lost both House and Senate.

I asked myself what could happen if RNC members start to beat up our President, Commander in Chief publicly during wartime. The liberal media would have a field day. It would only embolden democrats in both House and Senate, in turn to vote for denying funding for Iraq war and attack Pentagon terrorists surveillance program by reviewing bank records. As a result, our fighting men and women would pay a price with their dear lives. If we were forced to pull out of Iraq due to lack of funding before we achieve our objective, you and I could fight those Islamic fascists on our streets and in our shopping malls. When those Islamic fascists start to blowup our schools and shopping malls in this country, you and I would not be able to advance our conservative agendas from building a fence for border security to electing a conservative Republican President in 2008 and so on. If we do not have the White House in 2008, we could forget about advancing all our conservative domestic agendas. All this would destroy America’s greatness.

As you can see, the price for this country is America’s greatness when RNC Members are not supporting our Commander in Chief during wartime. If the personal cost for supporting our President during wartime is not getting re-elected as your National Committeeman. I would be happy to pay for it because many patriots before me paid far more than that, they paid for with their lives so this Republic could survive. So I hope you would understand that I have to do what is right for this country.

Thank you for hearing me out. Please feel free to pass my response on to anyone, who has a problem with my decision. Solomon
