Enter Saxton, Bob Packwood's Trojan Horse
With Love from Lars Larson
Tucked inside the horse, a long awaited pro-abortion victory
Saxton political ally, Bob Packwood, must not be able to believe his good fortune to have gullible conservatives supporting Saxton.
Goal #1 of Packwood's "Mainstream Republicans" is to change the pro-life platform of the GOP and have abortion become legal. (Goal #2 is for Republicans to accept same-sex marriage or its equivalent). What's more, part of these goals is to have a Republican in office to accomplish it. This requires a Trojan Horse who will have to pretend to be conservative in order to get elected.
That Trojan Horse is Ron Saxton.
He is, once again, (behind closed doors) promising pro-lifers that he will go against his own pro-abortion sentiments as governor, if they will just support him now.
He had backtracked from his original stance of refusing to support a ban on partial-birth abortion when he realized it was ruining his chances of getting elected in 2002. Now he is accusing anyone who says they remember Saxton's pro-partial-birth abortion words of being a liar.
It is a critical time for the pro-abortion Mainstreamers to have a pro-abortion Republican in such an office as Governor. Any time, during the next governor's administration, the U.S. Supreme Court may send the abortion issue to the states. It will suddenly become critical not to have a historically pro-abortion governor.
Voters were too smart to believe Saxton's Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde election transition routine in 2002. But, that was before Jeff Kropf was personally offended that "Jason didn't call me" as Kropf explained loudly on his talk show.
Packwood now sees his biggest dream a possible reality, with Saxton knowingly cashing in on the anger felt over illegal immigration. The immigration issue has been the perfect single-issue "sand in the eyes" to ignore Saxton's unRepublican background. His inconsistencies on any other issues don't matter. Parroting months of complaints over immigration from the Lars Larson show as though it was his own idea has been emotionally and politically perfect.
As Rush Limbaugh has said, the first candidates who trumpet the illegal immigration cause first are going to be the ones who win regardless of what else they do wrong. It is THE "reel 'em in" technique of the political day. The candidate doesn't have to mean a word of it. Just validate the voter's frustration and promise, promise, promise.
It's the same old routine; just the newest issue thrown in.
As Saxton supporters brush off legitimate concerns, Packwood & Co. wait in the wings until the election is over.
Pro-abortion Republicans will be emboldened in a new way as will the Log Cabin Republicans. Gordon Smith, Packwood, Jerry Keene and all the Mainstream gang will be side by side under the new pro-homosexual banner of "Republican Unity."
It doesn't matter what Saxton has promised to Jeff Kropf or Larson. Saxton's much older friendships will prevail. They will be paid back for their many more years of support and they know it. Staying in the background for a few more months is a small price for the long-awaited "mainstream" pro-abortion victory to come.
