We The Undersigned, strongly urge the State Party Chair, Vance Day and the
Republican National Committeeman, Solomon Yue, to consider the views of the
large body of Oregon State Republicans who believe that the President's concept
of immigration reform is bad for the country.
We urge Chair Day and Nat'l Committeeman Solomon Yue to
reconsider their intent to vote on
Friday for US Senator Mel Martinez (R-Florida) to be
the General Chair of the Republican National Committee. Senator Martinez
strongly supports President Bush's plan for amnesty for illegal
aliens. If elected, Senator Martinez would be the spokesman and new
face of the Republican Party.
We strongly believe this would have a very chilling effect for our
Republican Congressmen's reelections in 2008.
We also commend our Nat'l Committeewoman June Hartley for standing firmly
with those who elected her to represent us at the RNC.
In deference to the President, a vote in the negative
might not promote the kind of unity that many seek at this time. But if you were
to choose to cast an abstention the views of many Oregonians will then be
represented to the body with out the stigma of a negative
vote.
