OFIR members and supporters:

The Governor has introduced a very good driver license bill that will bring Oregon in line with the REAL ID Act while not giving a "driver privilege" license to illegal aliens. The bill number is HB 2270. Senator Rick Metsger, (D- Mt Hood), has introduced the same bill in the Senate. (SB 424).

HB 2270 and SB 424 will:

Require proof of legal status (citizenship or legally in the U.S.)
Require valid Social Security number.
Temporary license will valid for only as long as the individual can legally stay in the U.S.
Neither contains a "driving privilege" license for illegal aliens.

We urge everyone to call their State Senator and ask them to support SB 424 and call their State Representative ask them to support HB 2270.

Representative Donna Nelson (R-McMinnville) has introduced HB 2459. HB 2459 would make English the official language of Oregon. We urge that you call in support of HB 2459.

Persons can identify their State Senator and State Representative by visiting the Oregon Legislature website�s "Find Your Legislator" page, at: http://www.leg.state.or.us/findlegsltr/

Fill out the form giving your address, click Submit, and then you will see a complete list including both your Congresspersons and State legislators, with their email addresses, phone numbers, fax number, and PO address. You can click on the email address and write to them immediately.
