ORTL Works to Support a Pro-Abort Candidate – AGAIN!

Grants Pass, OR – The CONSTITUTION PARTY OF OREGON (CPO) condemns the promotion of a pro-choice candidate by an Oregon “pro-life” group, Oregon Right to Life PAC.  ORTL Pac sent out an August 10, 2010 email saying:  Oregon Right to Life PAC is pleased to announce we are recommending Jim Huffman for US Senate.”

The CPO finds it deceptive that a pro-life group would be using donor money to promote a pro-abortion candidate.  The Wall Street Journal said this about Jim Huffman:

“Both James Huffman and Chris Dudley expect their Republican primary victories to stimulate interest, and contributions, from the national party, even though both champion positions that scream “Mainstream Democrat” more than “Right Wing GOP”: Both are pro-choice on abortion, support civil unions for gay couples and neither is a member of the National Rifle Association.”

Gayle Atteberry, in her special message, wrote: “Oregon Right to Life PAC issues recommendations in cases where no major party candidate is pro-life, but one candidate supports pro-life legislation and policies.”

State Party Chairman, Jack Alan Brown Jr, said he could hardly believe it when he personally received this email from Oregon Right to Life PAC, in view of the Wall Street Journal cited above.  “It raises a serious question in my mind regarding someone’s integrity at this point, as there are only a few possible scenarios:  (1) James is lying about himself to either the Wall Street Journal or to Oregon Right to Life, or (2) Oregon Right to Life is lying about James to us.  How could Oregon Right to Life possibly think that an attorney with his viewpoint would support pro-life legislation and policies?  Why don’t they take the time to discover his point of view in the national press?”

The CPO questions the semantics used by ORTL to deceive pro-lifers into thinking that there are NO pro-life candidates, and that they must vote for ORTL’s “recommendations.

David Brownlow, former CPO 100% pro-life candidate who was NOT endorsed by ORTL who ran for U.S. Senate against Sen. Gordon Smith (which was a record high for campaign spending), said:  "This is nothing new.  Oregon Right to Fundraise has been backing pro-abort candidates for many years.  ORTF is nothing but a Republican front organization, whose sole purpose is to masquerade as a pro-life group that wants to end abortion.  The reality is that baby killing is good for ORTF business, and their main focus has been to deceive God's people into casting their votes for candidates they would otherwise abhor."

Keith Humphrey of Life Support Oregon said:  “Oregon Right to Life is speaking their native language of deception once again, as they have issued a recent recommendation in favor of pro-abortion, pro-homosexual, Jim Huffman for U.S. Senate. It is sad to see how naïve and simplistic Christian voters are continually herded into the Republican corral, by unprincipled Republican front organizations like Oregon Right to Life and the Oregon Family Council."

The CPO offers candidates who are 100% pro-life, and ORTL refuses to acknowledge these voting options because the candidates are not Republicans.  It is time that the ORTL does exactly what it professes:  “The Candidate PAC works to support pro-life candidates for state and federal office.”
