As statewide and local conservative leaders, we are writing to you about an important election for conservatives. On Tuesday, April 8, you have the opportunity to elect a true conservative as the next Collin County Commissioner for Precinct 1 – Matt Shaheen.
In the March 4 primary election, Matt finished in second place, only 708 votes behind an entrenched incumbent. As a result, there will be a runoff on April 8, and it is critical that you return to the polls – and vote for Matt Shaheen. Even if you did not vote in the primary election or if you voted in the Republican Primary (but not in the Democrat Primary), you can vote on April 8.
Elections are referendums on the incumbents, and on March 4, 53% of Republicans sent a strong message that they want a new County Commissioner. We believe that Matt Shaheen, a man of character and integrity, is that person. He has 19 years of business experience as a technology and management consultant. The incumbent seems to have forgotten that Republicans should fight for lower taxes. She voted to raise her own salary by 17.2 % while voting against lowering your property taxes.
Furthermore, the incumbent voted to use tax dollars to fund organizations that lobby our state legislature against property tax relief.
Matt believes that reducing the size and scope of government is the best safeguard to ensuring individual productivity and prosperity for all of Collin County citizens. Clearly, a change in leadership is desperately needed. Matt Shaheen is ready and able to provide that leadership.
Matt's campaign is going very well, having received the endorsement of state and local leaders. However, the most important vote is yours. Please be sure you go to the polls on Tuesday.
