"A moderate by definition is one of three things; somebody who sits around and waits for a majority to form and then joins it, a conservative who is pro-choice, or a liberal." -- Rush Limbaugh, June 5, 2001

No Pro-life Candidate for Governor
What will some pro-life Republicans Do?

Some Republican leaders, such as Representative Jeff Kropf and Lars Larson, are saying that the priority issue is immigration. Nothing else matters so much, not even abortion.

Kropf had dropped his concern about Saxton's being so-called pro-choice. He has insisted Republicans wouldn't let a pro-abortion bill get to the Governor's desk anyway.

But, will pro-life Republicans do what Larson and Kropf want them to do? Will they ignore the abortion issue because they are riled about illegal immigration? Will their belief that abortion is a form of murder not matter anymore?

Saxton got 43% of the Republican vote. 52% went to two pro-life Republicans. It is debatable as to whether or not all pro-lifers are going to turn over their votes to any of the prevailing candidates.

Since 1991 many pro-life conservatives have refrained from voting for "any of the above" when confronted with no pro-life candidates.

On election night, some Atkinson supporters declared they would never vote for someone who doesn't consider abortion murder of the unborn. Period. Only a few said they might or will vote for Saxton. Ordinarily one could say such talk is merely first-response to losing, but given the voting history of pro-lifers in the past decade or more, it could be meaningful.

Bill O'Reilly Calls for U of O's Frohnmayer to Be Fired.

Bill O-Reilly interviewed two U of O students this evening. One is a UO junior Jethro Higgens who has filed three grievances over cartoons depicting Jesus with an erection (see first news article below). The other student is a UO senior who has a Libertarian web site (he calls "conservative-libertarian). Some of the O-Reilly transcript is as follows.

O'Reilly:   What's he there for? Isn't he there to have standards?" <
Graf:   "I think he is there for standards, but I think you have to understand Frohnmayer's way of handling issues on campus. He's very laissez faire about these things...."
O'Reilly:   Yeah I know. Listen, I understand that and that means he needs to be fired!. Either the Board of Directors needs to move him out and bring in somebody who can respect the traditions of the university.... This man Frohnmayer is a coward and needs to get out."

"15 grand to Jack Roberts from ORTL. Another 15 from Oregon Family Council. Now THAT's an endorsement."   Kevin Starrett, Oregon Firearms Federation.
, ..even people like Right to Life, even though I’m pro-choice.  I’ve always had a good relationship with them because I’ve always respected their goals and understand their position—they don’t feel like they’ve gotten that from the court.  So, from that standpoint, I think there is a lot of interest, a lot of support. -- Jack Roberts, pro-abortion candidate for judge who received endorsement and thousands of dollars from the ORTL and OFC.
The Oregon Right to Life (ORTL) and Oregon Family Council (OFC) have, once again, taken it upon themselves to decide for Christian conservatives that it isn't necessary for them to know all the facts about a recommended candidate. Just have faith in the ORTL/OFC.

What's wrong here, is that contributions given to these organizations are with the understanding that truthful information will be dispensed about the candidates. But, when the leaders of ORTL/OFC are afraid the truth will hurt their preferred candidate they deliberately withhold basic information.

This is what they've done again in a
letter of recommendation for the pro-abortion Jack Roberts. Nothing in their letter hints of Roberts' abortion stand. They've also decided it is OK to use thousands of dollars of donations to their organization to support a pro-abortion candidate. Is this what donators expect them to do on their behalf?

It goes without saying that Roberts is the best of three candidates. The other two are very far-left activist liberals. If one is going to vote it is obvious for whom it should be. But, just in case any Christians may refrain from voting for ANY pro-abortion candidate, they will never know thanks to the trusted ORTL/OFC. That's the real purpose of the ORTL/OFC.

The ORTL/OFC have claimed they aren't like the "my way or the highway" Lon Mabon of the OCA. But, if they aren't, then why is this kind of tactic necessary and why do they, and their supporters, get nasty when anyone questions their methods?

Lon Mabon was blamed for acting as though God ordained whatever he wanted to do. The ORTL/OFC is doing no differently.
