  • OR GOP Press Conference:   Eugene KEZI's Rick Dancer Running for Sec'y Of State.   (Red Guard)
  • GOP to Host Weekly Standard Editor, Bill Kristol.   (SJ) [Is the Dorchester Conference the same thing as the GOP? If so, then it is no wonder that the OR GOP is so unsuccessful. The Dorchester crowd is against the pro-life and traditional family values that are stipulated in the party platform. If the GOP considers itself the sponsor of this event, they have communicated to all GOP members that the party establishment routinely dumps on the PCP membership and their goals for the party. The OR GOP has left its members and annually expresses such at the Packwood founded Dorchester Conferences.]

  • Salem:   Downtown Parking Time Limit Penalized 10, 970 Drivers In 2007.   Two-hour limit:   1,195 spaces. Revenue from all parking tickets issued last year in the downtown area amounted to about $252,000...revenue from all parking tickets amounted to about $668,332 -- an increase of $10,650 from the comparable period in 2006. The city spends about $600,000 per year on parking enforcement... (SJ) [It's anti-business. The city would gain more financially if business was allowed to prosper without punishment. Even pseudo-liberal Ashland knows better than to penalize their small shops with parking meters. Eugene & Salem don't get it. Salem's having a Republican mayor apparently hasn't made enough difference.]
  • Marylin Shannon Reacts to News about OR GOP's Being In Debt.   Spokeswoman Brianne Hyder said the main cause of the debt has been a steep drop in donations. "The blame game at this point is not productive," Hyder said. 'What makes more sense is to make changes so it doesn't happen again." (Esteve, Oregonian) [The real reason is a steep drop in donations? Well why is that?

The Party has discouraged members who don't feel the state or national establishment of the party is on their side. Conservative factions KNOW that the party establishment wants to be rid of them and, at last, disregard the conservative platform. The party has historically supported their so-called "moderate" candidates and left high and dry their conservative candidates. The attitude among many GOP members is "enough already," we will no longer financially support being stabbed in the back.

The same has been true of the national party. Since 1996, conservatives increasingly began a DTCO (direct to candidate only) donation policy because laundering their money through the RNC got them candidates like pro-partial-birth abortion Christy Todd Whitman, who gave New Jersey seven liberal judges, who in turn gave the RNC Lautenberg instead of the Republican replacement. Those judges made a crucial decision against Republicans. It was a decision that would have ended no differently had a liberal Democrat been governor.

While the likes of Whitman were being given strong public and financial support, other superb candidates such as Linda Smith of Washington and Bret Schundler of NJ were left high and dry by the party establishment despite their superb records in their own states. When a truly conservative Republican was finally close to beating the RINO Arlen Spector, the establishment came out in support of Spector. Why should conservatives continue to reward the RNC for this kind of anti-Republican behavior?

The pattern of anti-traditional values of the party establishment may be deceitfully supported by insincere words, but their actions have spoken loudly. There has been a series of last straws since Reagan left office. In OR it was pro-abortion Ron Saxton who had given campaign contributions to Kulongoski when pro-life Kevin Mannix was running four years before. Just how much are conservatives supposed to ignore and for how long?

The latest national last straw for even more Republicans is being left with the liberal likes of John McCain. It is 1964 all over again when the Ford factions of the Party voted by the thousands to end any conservative Goldwater influence by voting for the socialist Lyndon Johnson. Once again the liberal factions of the Party are attempting to go in for the kill against its conservative membership with candidates like McCain.

Let the party liberals give financial support. They will not get it from conservatives. They increasingly haven't been giving since, in 1996, Bob Dole announced that he hadn't read the party platform, never intended to read it and didn't care what it said.

Recently his politically powerful wife, NC senator, announced to the entire country that if the conservative Republican candidate did beat the far-left RINO, Lincoln Chafee, she absolutely would not support him.

OK. Fine. Enough! No more money from conservatives.]

  • Wyden Townhalling Around OR for Health Care Bill.   "If an employer is paying someone $40,000 in wages and $10,000 in health care benefits, the employer would have to pay the employee the $10,000 in benefits," he explained, joking that the transfer would represent "the biggest wage raise in American history...." Wyden said he plans to spend most of 2008 building support for the proposal, with the hope that it can win approval in the new Congress that will be seated in 2009. (Mail Tribune)
