"A moderate by definition is one of three things; somebody who sits around and waits for a majority to form and then joins it, a conservative who is pro-choice, or a liberal."

- OR Delegation Joins Congress In Limiting AMT. Congress headed off a tax increase for about 35,000 taxpayers in Central and Eastern Oregon on Wednesday, when lawmakers delayed the expansion of the alternative minimum tax for one more year. The tax was created in 1969 to prevent a handful of millionaires from using itemized deductions and other strategies to dodge taxes. But the alternative minimum tax, or AMT, was never indexed to inflation, meaning that without congressional intervention, more and more taxpayers meet its threshold each year. The average tax increase under the AMT would have been about $2,000, the Associated Press reported. (Bend Bulletin)

Pure Gall from AP Writer Nancy Benac: "Shedding Tears on the Campaign Trail. Treats Clinton's fake tears as the same as Romney's tears in sympathy for someone else. Implies crying now in style with voters and that there is a double standard on crying. There is no double standard. Clinton's tears were fake. Pat Schroeders crying was for herself and self-centered. Voters were wise to both of them. Romney's near-tears were for someone else when considering what their pain must feel like. He wasn't feeling sorry for himself like M's Schroeder. This so-called reporter either pretends she doesn't see the distinction, or that she is stupid. Maybe she is simply counting on there being enough stupid people who won't see through her political agenda.
Clinton Fake Tears Video On YouTube
YouTube Video of Clinton's Socialist Pastor, Tony Campolo, President, Evangelical Association for Promotion of Education, CLINTON'S PATSY SOCIALIST PASTOR On Charlie Rose Show. This is the pastor who was walking and laughing with Clinton at Ron Brown's funeral. "Campolo: (17 minutes into show) "Religious people who have political power scare me. They're dangerous." Well, what about HIM!? HE got into politics and he did it from the pulpit. Typical Clinton hypocrite. Where did Hillary get her routine imitating black civil rights sufferers? Watch Mr. Campolo do HIS black preacher imitation. This interview is a vivid reminder of the intense disingenuousness of the entire Clinton administration & what we want to avoid with Hillary Clinton. |

- "Fire Pours Down On Sen. Smith for Defense Of Lott's Comments. Oregon and national Democrats and liberal bloggers pounced on Smith Tuesday after he said that Lott’s comments were “misconstrued.” They pointed out that immediately after the incident in 2002, Smith called Lott’s remarks “offensive.” (The Hill) [The OR Conservative would say "so what" except that it is these fringe liberals to whom Smith has been trying to appeal rather than to the conservative base which originally got him elected. Smith hasn't learned the obvious; that it is impossible to satisfy liberals, no matter which party they are in.]
- Oregonian Report On Smith's Praise Of Lott. Democratic Party of Oregon spokesman Marc Siegel said the disparity between Smith's 2002 statement and Tuesday's speech is "a stunning, glaring example of Smith changing his tune." [What's new. It's classic Gordon Smith.] Senators from both parties delivered warm speeches about Lott on Tuesday, a tradition when senators retire. Sen. Arlen Specter, R-Penn., said Lott's 2002 comments were "blown vastly out of proportion" and "in no means out of line." Sen. Orrin Hatch said he "bitterly resented" the way Lott was treated after the comments.

(SJ) [Just as presumptuous as first editorial, and whether they realize it or not, they are merely expressing an anti-Capitalism, anti-Christmas and anti-joy mentality. Why do both these commentators assume the most negative about this man and how he felt? As someone who has been poor during much of her childhood, and in young adulthood, The Oregon Conservative finds that neither of these two writers understands what Christmas does for the poor. Viewing lavish Christmas decorations as mere "conspicuous consumption" shows a lack of empathy for the man who both these writers presume they understand. What do the lovely Christmas decorations and the busy Christmas workers do for some of those who are poor? It just might make them hopeful during what would otherwise be a much darker time. Might he have been warmed & cheered by what he saw? Might he prefer not to have a fuss made over his unfortunate situation? Might he have preferred to be treated just like everyone else. Being poor can be embarrassing. In the name of kindness some unknowing people embarrass the poor with their fuss. Is such fuss truly for the poor man or to make the fusser feel good about themselves?
